Bringing Some Law and Order to True Blood!By
Fans of Law and Order: Special Victims Unit (SVU) must have been sad to see Christopher Meloni leave the series earlier this year. After more than ten years as tough but sensitive Detective Elliot Stabler, Meloni announced that he would not be returning to SVU for its thirteenth season, and said that he was leaving to pursue some new projects.
Meloni’s faithful followers may be pleased to know that he could be back on the small screen shortly. Rumors have been swirling that one of Meloni’s new projects might involve him wearing fangs, and taking some “special victims”. The very youthful-looking fifty-year old is said to be in talks with HBO for a “major role” as an incredibly powerful elder vampire in True Blood. If he joins, he’ll take a role in the fifth season in 2012. HBO has refused to comment on these rumors, but if they’re true, having the highly-respected Meloni would be a huge casting coup for the popular vampire series.
The rugged Meloni, who was among the featured candidates for People magazine’s Sexiest Man Alive edition in 2006, had a variety of jobs before he got his break. He was, at various times, a construction worker, bouncer, and personal trainer. Apart from his role as Elliot Stabler in SVU for which he garnered an Emmy nomination in 2006, Meloni is best known for portraying the charismatic bisexual sociopath Chris Keller in the HBO prison drama Oz.
Since leaving SVU, Meloni’s not limited himself to just the small screen. He’ll have a role as Colonel Hardy in the highly anticipated big screen movie Man of Steel, which has been touted as a reboot of the Superman series.
Stay tuned to find out if Meloni really will be joining the cast of True Blood, and bringing a touch of law and order to the vampire world!
