Stephen MoyerIn an exclusive interview with Yahoo! OMG, actor Stephen Moyer who plays Bill Compton on the hit HBO series True Blood gives us the inside scoop on what’s been happening in his life lately – aside from filming Season 5 of the vampire TV show.

As all Truebies know, Moyer is married to Anna Paquin, his co-star who play’s Sookie Stackhouse on True Blood, and the happy couple are expecting their first child together later this year. Moyer, who has two children from previous relationships, is nonetheless excited about his next child – and not in the least bit nervous about his impending fatherhood. “I love it,” says the affable British-born actor.

Moyer shares that while he and Paquin work on the same show, they don’t really talk about work when they’re home, saying that their daily conversation would sound something like, “Hello darling, how was work?”, and the response would be “Fine. Thank you. What do you want for dinner?” Moyer adds that most recently, he and Paquin have been talking about his 13-year-old arthritic dog, who he says is “an angry old man”, and will only do anything if he’s tempted with a “big pile of meat”.

When quizzed about his own eating habits, Moyer says, “I’m a bacon and eggs boy”, and that once he found out that he wouldn’t have too many sex scenes in Season 5, he “went straight back to the chocolate croissants”. Fortunately for fans, there still are scenes where Bill has his shirt off… but that means for Moyer having to get up at four in the morning to get in a run at the beach everyday before starting work. Moyer jokes that he only starts to eat lots of fruit before there’s a scene where he has to strip down, adding that if anyone sees him eating fruit for breakfast, they’ll know that he’s just a few days from having to take his shirt off on set.

The latest news is that True Blood has just been renewed for Season 6, so Moyer will likely have to be eating more fruit and doing a lot more running since one of the big draws are the sex scenes! Read the full interview with Moyer on Yahoo! OMG.

Sookie and Bill Have a Baby!

Posted by: | Comments (0)

Sookie Stackhouse and Bill ComptonMea culpa. That’s a very misleading title for the article, but I couldn’t resist when I saw the news that True Blood’s real-life couple Anna Paquin (who plays Sookie Stackhouse) and Stephen Moyer (who vamps it up as Bill Compton) are expecting their first child together.

The fairy-tale romance between Paquin and Moyer began in 2007, not long after the series pilot was filmed. Moyer proposed in 2009, and the co-stars finally tied the knot in a private Malibu ceremony in August 2010.

The is 29-year-old Paquin’s first pregnancy. Moyer, considerably older at 42, has a son (Billy born in 2000) and daughter (Lilac, born in 2002) from earlier relationships. The happy couple has announced that the baby is due sometime in the fall.

Meanwhile, filming for True Blood Season 5 continues apace, with HBO releasing various bits and bobs to entice viewers to catch the show. It’s going to be interesting to see how Paquin manages to hide her baby bump as filming progresses – because despite this article’s title, Sookie and Bill don’t have a baby, and I don’t believe they do in any of Charlaine Harris’ Sookie Stackhouse books either. Since filming began way back in November 2011, it’s likely that we’ll only see a glimpse of a more rounded Paquin in the later episodes, if at all.

True Blood will return to our screens on June 10.

True Blood is Dropping the Ball

Posted by: | Comments (0)

Alan BallIt looks like smash hit HBO series True Blood is dropping the Ball – Alan Ball. Multiple reports, including a statement from the man himself, have confirmed that series creator Ball will be relinquishing his role with the show after the fifth season. Ball has been the brains behind the sexy show that has captured the imagination of fans from around the world. Reports cite exhaustion as the reason for Ball’s decision to take a step back.

It’s no wonder he’s exhausted. Ball’s been involved in everything, from the adaptation from Charlaine Harris’ Sookie Stackhouse books, to the casting, to the sets, and costumes. He continues in this role for Season 5, which is currently being filmed. However, it remains to be seen if True Blood will have a Season 6, and how Ball will be involved in that, should it materialize.

There’s no chance that True Blood would be cancelled. The show is going stronger than ever, with the average number of viewers for Season 4 coming in at more than twice the average for Season 1. With such good numbers, there’s no reason for HBO to kill the golden goose. The only concern that fans might have – and I can hear you moaning about it already – is that the quality of the show could slip because Ball isn’t there every day to make sure things are going right.

That too seems unlikely. For one thing, Ball will continue to be involved in a supervisory role, albeit not in the hands-on everyday running of the show. But isn’t that what all CEOs do? Set up a company, then let his excellent staff handle the operations? Ball has put in place a superb team of writers, production staff, cast, and crew, and they will no doubt be more than capable of pulling off many more excellent seasons of this wonderful show. Ball himself certainly thinks so. Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, Ball said, “Because of the fantastic cast, writers, producers and crew, with whom I have been lucky enough to work these past five years, I know I could step back and the show will continue to thrive as I look forward to new and exciting ventures.”

According to a statement from HBO, Ball will be working on other projects after True Blood, including Cinemax’s Banshee and HBO’s Wichita.

Alexander Skarsgard in Battleship

Alexander Skarsgard as Stone Hopper in Battleship

It’s going to be a while before we all get the pleasure of watching Alexander Skarsgard heat up the screen as Eric Northman on Season 5 of True Blood. In the meantime, Skarsgard fans have something else to look forward to. Yes, it’s Skarsgard’s new film, Battleship, where we’ll see him all out at sea – literally. Starring Skarsgard, together with Taylor Kitsch, Brooklyn Decker, Liam Neeson, and Rihanna, this big-budget film will be out on May 18, 2012 .

Directed by Peter Berg, the action-adventure film based on the Hasbro game of the same name is set in the waters off Hawaii. The US Navy ships in the Pacific Fleet are based out of Pearl Harbor, and they end up clashing with an alien race bent on sucking power from Earth by building a power station in the ocean.

Kitsch is the cocky but likeable hero, Alex Hopper, a brash young Lieutenant serving on the USS John Paul Jones, while Brooklyn Decker plays his love interest, Sam. Skarsgard gets a meaty role as Stone Hopper, Alex’s brother and Commanding Officer of the USS Sampson. Award-winning Neeson plays Admiral Shane, Alex and Stone’s superior, and also Sam’s father. Rihanna, in her film debut, makes an appearance as a Petty Officer serving on Alex’s ship.

Battleship is from the team that brought you the Transformers, so expect non-stop adventure, close shaves for our heroes, and an eventual happy ending.

If you haven’t already seen the trailer, check it out here! Lots of Skarsgard action… and Kitsch isn’t half bad either! Who can resist men in uniform who’re out to save the world?
