Alexander Skarsgard in Battleship

Alexander Skarsgard as Stone Hopper in Battleship

It’s going to be a while before we all get the pleasure of watching Alexander Skarsgard heat up the screen as Eric Northman on Season 5 of True Blood. In the meantime, Skarsgard fans have something else to look forward to. Yes, it’s Skarsgard’s new film, Battleship, where we’ll see him all out at sea – literally. Starring Skarsgard, together with Taylor Kitsch, Brooklyn Decker, Liam Neeson, and Rihanna, this big-budget film will be out on May 18, 2012 .

Directed by Peter Berg, the action-adventure film based on the Hasbro game of the same name is set in the waters off Hawaii. The US Navy ships in the Pacific Fleet are based out of Pearl Harbor, and they end up clashing with an alien race bent on sucking power from Earth by building a power station in the ocean.

Kitsch is the cocky but likeable hero, Alex Hopper, a brash young Lieutenant serving on the USS John Paul Jones, while Brooklyn Decker plays his love interest, Sam. Skarsgard gets a meaty role as Stone Hopper, Alex’s brother and Commanding Officer of the USS Sampson. Award-winning Neeson plays Admiral Shane, Alex and Stone’s superior, and also Sam’s father. Rihanna, in her film debut, makes an appearance as a Petty Officer serving on Alex’s ship.

Battleship is from the team that brought you the Transformers, so expect non-stop adventure, close shaves for our heroes, and an eventual happy ending.

If you haven’t already seen the trailer, check it out here! Lots of Skarsgard action… and Kitsch isn’t half bad either! Who can resist men in uniform who’re out to save the world?

True_Blood_Season4_Episode_11It’s getting close to the end of season four of True Blood and this episode starts out with the vampire squad all in black getting ready to blow up the Moon Goddess emporium and kill everybody inside. Marnie’s holding them captive and the black-clad group is not to happy when they find out their favorite fairy snack is with the witches. Bill and Eric even offer to commit suicide in order to save her. Here are some of the best lines in this episode of True Blood:

1. Jessica on her way to blow up the witches – “I’m so sick of silvering myself all day every day and pissed off all the time…this is what PMS used to feel like.”
2. Pam as she endorses Bill’s plan to kill the witches – “Let’s blow up these wiccan dipshits already, I’ve got a mani/pedi at four.”
3. Marnie’s sidekick Roy to the group – “Don’t you get it, this is the Hotel California baby, you can check out but you can’t never fuckin leave.”
4. Lafayette when Antonia left Marnie’s body – “Oh shit, Marnie just puked the bitch out.”
5. Andy lost out in the woods after Terry made him walk home from the treehouse – “hold it together man…don’t go all lost in nature retarded”
6. Antonia tells Pam – “don’t laugh too much, you wouldn’t want your lips to fall off” which wipes the smile right off her face.
7. “The true death to save Bo Peep, I don’t fuckin’ think so” – Pam yells as Bill is about to shoot Eric to save Sookie and she grabs the bazooka and fires at Sookie and Marnie.
8. Jesus tells Lafayette as they use Casey’s dead body to cast a spell to pull Antonia out of Marnie – “where we’re going right now, it’s deep. And you may hear and see things that you really don’t want to.” Lafayette’s like…”huh, that ship’s fuckin’ sailed.”
9. Alcide to the motorcycle dude in Marcus’ shop – “Your packmaster’s a sociopath.”
10. When the fairy in the woods tells Andy that he is handsome and muscular as she rubs his chest, he answers -” I have been cuttin’ back on the carbs.”

And a visual that I’m not likely to forget – Eric drinking blood from Roy’s heart like it’s a soda.

Sam got his revenge against Marcus – he kicks his ass – but it’s Alcide who did the actual killing. He abjures Debbie since he found her half naked in his bedroom with Marcus when they arrived. Andy gets it on with a beautiful fairy in the woods, looks like it’s his lucky day. Bill shoots Marnie so that’s the end of her… or is it? Because this episode of True Blood ends with Lafayette being possessed by the spirit of Marnie. I’m sure he wishes he had never heard of the concept of a medium because he’s got to be tired of getting possessed by ghosts.

True Blood Season 4 Ep 9: Run

Posted by: | Comments (0)

True_Blood_Season4_Episode_9Alcide is racing to get Sookie some help when she’s ripped from his arms by Bill who tries to give her his blood but she’s not taking it. Can True Blood exist without Sookie? Nope. And so Sookie wakes up to Bill and Alcide looking at her. Her first question is “where’s Eric?” and you can see Bill withdraw. Alcide leaves in a huff, he can’t believe she’s still worried about the vampires after she almost died.

Eric is at Antonia’s beck and call as she orders him to wash the blood off his face. He’s completely under her spell. Tara challenges Antonia’s dictatorship when she learns of her plans to take Eric with her to the Festival of Tolerance to show everyone how vampires really treat people – like Russell did.

Sam and Luna take off to have a family camping experience and avoid her harassing husband. Luna thinks it’s running away from her problems but Sam says it’s just camping. While they are out having family time, Marcus shows up at Merlotte’s and talks to Tommy, issuing a challenge to Sam. Tommy gives him a lot of attitude. So when Tommy shows up at Marcus’ place in Sam’s body, his mouthy attitude gets him severely beat up. One final kick turns him from Sam back into Tommy and Marcus is shocked. Alcide jumps in and forces them all away from him.

Debbie is sitting in bed crying and watching the Cheaters show as she waits for Alcide to come home. When he does, he undresses and climbs into bed. Whoa – a back butt shot of Alcide crossing the room sans clothes. It does not get much better than that.

Hoyt wakes up from a major bender and packs up all of Jessica’s things. You even see him put a copy of Twilight in there – cute. He writes on the side of the box, “for you, Monster”. Then Lafayette comes into his house carrying baby Mikey and Hoyt challenges him on why he has Arlene’s baby to which Lafayette points a gun at him and tells him to get out of the house.

Sookie wakes up on the couch and opens the door to Eric who is visiting her in the daytime. As they start to go at it on the table, Bill is standing there. Apparently she is dreaming about both of them and they almost begin to fight over her but they stop when she commands it – after all, it’s her dream. Yummy, I’d like to have that dream.

Sookie stands there lecturing them, telling them she loves them both. She belongs to neither vampire, and she refuses to choose. She starts to undress and says she has to either be with both of them or with no one at all. And it looks like she will get her wish as the threesome progresses. Unfortunately, she wakes up from her dream looking confused.

Jason and Andy show up at Hoyt’s house and Lafayette starts shooting at them. They keep calling her Lafayette and she tells them her name is Mavis. Jesus comes on the scene, summoned by Arlene. He talks to the ghost who is inhabiting Lafayette’s body and she tells him her story. She hands the baby over and they go to dig up her grave. They dig up the skeletons of both the mother and the baby. Jesus talks the ghost out of Lafayette and she and her baby leave together. Everybody is touched.

Hoyt gives Jason the Monster box to take to Jessica at vampire Bill’s house. When he delivers it, Jessica asks him to come in and he says no, but he’s having a hard time leaving. And the two of them end up having sex in the back of his truck.

Debbie is turning back to V and she downs the whole bottle in one swallow as the dealer looks on. Next you see her visiting Antonia, pledging the werewolf pack’s allegiance to the witch’s cause. Sookie sneaks into the basement of the emporium to listen to Antonia and Debbie talk about their hatred of vampires. She enters one room and finds Eric standing there like a statue. Eric won’t move and the witches discover Sookie. Tara is holding a gun on her and gives her code telling her to read her mind which is to attack her and escape, which she does. She and Debbie take off for the Festival of Tolerance to warn Bill.

Bill and Nan are waiting for their turn to speak at the Festival of Tolerance. Outside the rally, Eric tricks the other vampire sheriffs into following him and Antonia forces them under her power. Eric and Antonia are standing in the wings while Bill speaks and just as Sookie rushes in to warn them, all the vampires under Antoinia’s control start to kill everyone. Sookie screams “run” at Bill as Eric flies through the air to kill him. It looks like she might not get to realize that menage-a-trois after all.

True Blood Season 4 Episode 8The latest episode of True Blood starts out with Jessica opening the doors and making her way out into the sun. But, just as she starts to burn, Jason runs in at the last second and saves her. They start to passionately kiss on the floor.

It’s nighttime and Sookie is taking the silver off Eric. He tells her to yank it off quickly which makes him scream. He needs to feed and she trusts him not to lose control of his vampire instincts as she pulls him up to her neck. He pulls away and wants her to drink from him saying “we will be one” and that is what she does.

Jessica shows up back at the house and Hoyt is ready to start fresh but Jessica tells him she wants to move out. Hoyt starts to cry and says that if you don’t love me, then I will die. To which she responds, then die! And she slams his head off the counter. She leaves to see Jason our front and they are about to have bloody, hot vampire sex in the front of his truck when a voice wakes her up and we find out she was just dreaming.

Sookie and Eric are naked again. They are pretty much naked this whole season. They are rubbing all over each other in the shower when it starts to snow. He pushes the shower curtain aside and there’s a bed in the middle of the woods. They start to have sex in this weird bed out in the woods with it snowing on them. Bizarre.

Antonia is freaking out that her powerful spell only killed one vampire. Bill calls the emporium to speak with her. He apologizes for what was done to her 400 years ago and requests a meeting – he is quite the smooth talker. They agree to meet at the Bon Temps cemetery at midnight.

Mrs. Fortenberry meets with the gas company representative at Merlotte’s. She’s acting strange – ordering beer, cussing like a sailor, messed up hair – what’s going on? Both Arlene and the company guy look taken aback. She’s bargaining but finally has to settle for a $5,700 check. Later, Tommy is stumbling down a path in Mrs. Fortenberry’s clothes with makeup on his face and he collapses to the ground, throwing up. That explains her odd behavior…

Jessica comes home for real this time and she tells Hoyt that she wants to split up because she’s not meant to be in a monogamous relationship. He says he knows there is someone else. Then he goes off and pushes all the buttons – he deserves better than her (a vampire who’s a virgin forever), he deserves kids, and he deserves a partner with whom he can go out in the daylight. She’s is crushed – this isn’t like her dream. He’s a real person with real feelings and he is hurt and pissed at her betrayal. He rescinds her invitation and she’s pulled out of the house to lie on the porch crying.

Marcus, the pack leader, is Luna’s ex. He doesn’t look quite so skeazy now, he’s seems to be a mature, rational guy who’s running a strong pack and he tells all of them to stay out of the vampire/witch conflict. Debbie tells Alcide that he needs to stay away from Sookie – where Sookie is, vampires are…

Lafayette is napping and he starts to dream about the ghost. He finds out that she lost her baby after the white man who fathered it killed it decades ago to protect his reputation. Lafayette is startled awake and he sees her ghost. She rushes forward and possesses him and she makes her way over to kidnap baby Mikey.

Sookie and Eric have come to see Bill and pledge their loyalty and their willingness to fight the witches on behalf of the vampires. Bill does not want Sookie in any danger but she is adamant and he finally accepts their aid.

Luna, her daughter Emma, and Sam are eating dinner when Marcus stops by in a jealous huff. He’s unhappy that Luna is entertaining a man in her house. Sam and Marcus eye-ball each other, we’ll be seeing more of these two.

Jessica goes to Jason’s house, telling him that she broke up with Hoyt. Jason defends Hoyt – he can’t believe she broke his heart. He rescinds her invitation and for the second time that night, she is pulled through a door and out of a house. Jason is so conflicted that he starts doing pushups.

Bill meets Antonia in the graveyard at midnight. Sookie, Eric and Pam are with him. Antonia comes with her witches including Tara. One of them is holding a silver tray to fight the vampires – I love it. They start to fight and Antonia takes on Eric, making him fall to his knees in front of her – it looks Eric has become her pet. Sookie gets shot and collapses onto the ground. Alcide arrives and picks her up as Debbie watches them. No reason to be jealous, huh?
