Who is Maryann Forrester on True Blood?
Rest assured, she’s not the philanthropic social worker she pretends to be. Maryann has an agenda.
Although I don’t know her, I’m fairly sure she’s a shape shifter. If you’ll remember the “flickering” scene in her back yard you’ll know that during that scene she was focusing on her pig. Shape shifters need a focus in order to manifest themselves into other creatures. Sam explained this to Sookie once she discovered his secret.
I believe Maryann’s purpose in befriending Tara is simple but very evil. Maryann is attempting to shift into a human form. She seeks out those who are alone in the world and entices them with her wealth and hospitality. She makes sure they’re totally disconnected from their former friends and family. Remember how Maryann’s servant removed Tara’s phone message from Sam? It’s all part of Maryann’s plan to isolate Tara.
I may be wrong, but I also believe the foot that we saw in the last episode was that of Tara’s mother, not Lafayette. I believe Maryann got rid of Tara’s mother in an attempt to remove Tara’s family ties. I also believe Maryann played a role in Lafayette’s disappearance. I’m not sure what she’s done with him, but he may be grievously injured.
I plan to keep my eye on Maryann Forrester.
Maryann is a maenad. she’s in the book for a hot second and always appears with a boar. she’s drawn to drink and violence. she’s not a nice gal. she’s not a shape shifter either. And Lafayette is certainly dead. Hope that clears everything up for you.
A maenad :p Although at first when I watched the show I had thought she was a shape shifter like Sam.
Sadly though I believe the foot is Lafayette, I had my doubts at first and thought, as you do, that it was Tara’s mom. Now however I’m pretty sure it is not. Sad, I liked Lafayette.

personally i think it is not lafayettes foot..even though in the book he was killed..he was so popular on the show that i think they will twist it and keep him somehow because he was such a liked character in the show..and if it is lafayettes foot then i believe that the ratings are going to go down..i think its taras moms foot.

I think Maryann is the Crommyonian Sow (a greek mythological creature). Since Vampires & Shapeshifters are mythological creatures I guess you could open up a whole other world of mythological creatures for this show. But from what I’ve seen of Maryann so far, she could fit into the description of the Crommyonian Sow.

She’s a maenad, no doubt about it …when Sookie reads her mind the word ‘Bacchus’ is heard among the eerie chants coming from Maryann’s brain, which is the Roman name for Dionysus, which the maenads are bound to. The last bar scene is basically a toned down for TV version of what theyre famous for being a catalyst for.
Yup, you’re right Mike. MaryAnn is in fact a Maenad, unless Wikipedia contains false information.

Wonder if HBO knows that Wikipedia is giving away their best known secret (LOL). Doesn’t say though that Maenads can transform into other creatures and I’m guessing that MaryAnn has the ability to do that since in the episode where she’s chanting in the back yard during Tara’s party, she raises her hands up and they are claws with only 3 fingers. It appeared as though she was starting to transform. She could be a cross between a Maenad and Michael Jackson for all we know. The producers do like to keep people guessing.
It was NOT Lafyette in the back of the car! It is not tara’s mom either. It is the foot of the woman who performed the exorcism on tara’s mom! Lafyette does die in the books, but rest assured he is alive in the show! Lafyette is the best!!
